Teresa Charities was founded in 2002 and incorporated in 2004. It is the work of many people, but principally the work of the founder, Deacon An Thanh Vu.
Deacon An Vu, founder and Executive Director of Teresa Charities
Deacon Vu had the vision of a very simple organization with a single goal: feed the hungry; relieve the suffering. The charity has started small, with operations in only one country. It was logical to start with the country where contacts could be fostered through the many connections in the community of expatriate Vietnamese here in the U.S.
Many of those working for Teresa Charities are Catholic, and we have drawn the name Teresa from St. Thérèse of Lisieux, a source of our inspiration.
We have a second tier of local volunteer contacts who provide on-site auditing and verification for us. Many of the pictures on this web site come from these auditors.
Locations in Vietnam where Teresa Charities is supporting people. Though Teresa Charities has begun its work in Vietnam, our mission is not limited to any one country.
Our mission is simple: to provide rice to the elderly poor.
Our purpose is simple: to relieve suffering.
We deliver funds by wire transfer to trusted and responsible church agencies in the local area.
Teresa Charities is an Organization of Catholic Church. However, we often work with other Churches as being the most reliable and trustworthy agencies available.
Teresa Charities also serves people without regard to their religious preference, and does not seek to gain converts
Since June of 2008, 15,000 elderly people in many countries have been provided monthly with 10-lb. bags of rice through Teresa Charities through givers such as you.
Teresa Charities also supports other projects such as:
1- Village bridges
2- Nurseries, and libraries.
3- Saving unborn baby lives
4- Adult home care
