Because Our Lady of Sorrows no longer has a school of its own, our parish pays $1,150 in tuition assistance to qualifying students in our community who attend nearby Catholic schools.

To qualify for school subsidy assistance, the student's parents must:

1. Be registered parishioners
2. Be involved in the life of the parish by attending events and celebrating Sunday Mass regularly
3. Be regular verifiable financial contributors to the parish. The contribution has to be verifiable either through online giving or envelopes. We also ask that the parent commits to give at least $800 in a year. If the parent has very low income, we still need that proof and she or he must show commitment to the parish by volunteering in some ministries. Before the pastor signs off on the form, we will require the parent to also sign a commitment form to the parish with the regard to supporting the parish verifiably with their time, talents and resources. If the parent is capable of raising the funds, it is advisable that they forgo the subsidy and let the parish offer support to the low income families who wish to give catholic education to their children. The parish will prioritize low income parishioners who are regular and committed to the parish life as they strive to educate their children. Please note that the participation and commitment of the grandparents or other relatives to the parish is not an excuse for non-committed parents to get the financial help (It is the parent that is needs to qualify for this parish assistance not their own parents and relatives).
